FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 10/28/11
Charleston Pirate Tours sponsors 1st annual
South carolina week for the animals
(Charleston, SC) Charleston Pirate Tours and sister company Island Paradise Balloon Art join Animal World USA for the 1st Annual South Carolina Week for the Animals October 29, 2011 – November 6, 2011. Governor Nikki Haley made the official proclamation earlier this week. According to Haley’s proclamation, Week for the Animals is to “raise awareness and educate the public about the need to provide the proper care and protection of our animal friends.”
Charleston Pirate Tours and Island Paradise Balloon Art “employ” two rescued parrots. Captain Bob, the blue and gold macaw, and Doozer the Diva, the yellow-naped Amazon, make frequent appearances at events, schools, museums, and libraries across the southeast. While entertaining thousands of people, Captain Bob and Doozer serve as ambassadors of parrot rescue and adoption.
The special governor-proclaimed week will highlight the importance that animals play in our lives and bring communities together to promote SC organizations, shelters and humane groups.
This statewide event is designed to celebrate and build awareness on behalf of all animals, as well as recognize the organizations and citizens who support them. The week will shine the spotlight on educators, advocates, animal shelters, rescue organizations, sanctuaries, students, community leaders, and caring citizens in an exciting week of community-building activities.
The exciting week will feature pet adoption events, gala events, pet therapy in hospitals, pirate tours, art and library activities, low cost and/or free spay and neuter opportunities, wildlife tours, exciting benefit fundraisers for the animals, salute to working/search & rescue K-9’s, and more!
Precious lives, which will be saved, and communities highlighted during this week through a wide variety of animal-related events and activities. If you would like to learn more, become involved, list an event, please call 877-454-0807 or visit the official website at http://scanimals.org/.
